About this item
Stylish silver double lipped sauce / gravy boat stood on a stepped pedestal base, with shaped rim and sweeping raised spouts. Twin strap handles, square topped and split down to the upper terminals formed in a lovely organic style. An unusual and very attractive addition to any dining table.
Hallmarked for London 1908, makers Mappin & Webb.
It measures 16cm (6 1/4") spout to spout, 12.7cm (5") across the handles and 10cm (4") high. It weighs 169g/5.4ozt.
Condition is good overall with no damage or dents but there have been some small repairs. Both handles have been repaired at the lower terminals and the inside edge just below the square top, one also having a minor sign or work on the outside of the handle also just below the top. There has also been a bit of work at the top of the pedestal base resulting in the boat not standing quite as perfectly as it once did. All the repairs are small, pretty neat and not materially detracting to the look of the piece. Light surface wear in the main, the marks on the front are a bit rubbed but fully legible and the retail mark on the foot is clear.
