About this item
A very fine quality Russian parcel gilt silver tea strainer in the style of a coopered bucket with alternating silver and gilt finish "wooden" slats engraved to create the effect of wood grain patterns and bound with a gilt finish strap. The inside and base is gilded as is the bucket handle and spout clip, all original to the piece, all with matching marks. The bucket has a vacant cartouche to one side. Dates from c.1900.
All pieces marked with the first kokoshnik mark with assayer initials for Ivan Sergeyevich Lebedkin of Moscow and makers initials of IS or PS in cyrillic.
It measures 4cm (1 1/2") high excluding the handle and clip (6cm / 2 1/4" including the handle and the clip is 4cm / 1 1/2" long) and 4cm (1 1/2") wide. It weighs 27g/0.9ozt.
Condition is very good with no damage or repair and very light surface wear.
