    An excellent pair of Geo. III Scottish sugar tongs by Alexander Zeigler of Edinburgh, the end engraved contemporary initials  'DA above HW', within a herringbone surround, with scrolling foliage to the shoulders, within a bold feather border, with half shell bowls, bears single makers mark only

     

    Alexander Zeigler was a renowned silversmith recorded as working in Edinburgh from 1782 - 1804.  This superb pair of sugar tongs, with original initialled cartouche and engraving, are full of the charm and quality of the art of the 18th Century Scottish silversmith
