About this item
Lovely Georgian silver Christening mug with baluster shape body with multiple reeded band around the neck and set on a stepped and reeded collet foot. An unusual and very attractive squared off tapering strap handle with cast acanthus leaf detail to the thumb rest section, bold reeded detail down the handle and finished with a cast leaf or feather decoration towards the base. It retains much of it's original gilt wash inside.
Hallmarked for London 1817, makers mark for Rebecca Emes & Edward Barnard (partially obscured).
It measures 9.5cm (3 3/4") high, 11cm (4 1/4") rim to handle and 7.5cm (3") across the body. It weighs 181g/5.8ozt.
Condition is very good with no damage or dents. The marks are partially obscured but legible and there is a dedication engraved to the front.
