About this item
A rare George III silver soup ladle with a scalloped shell bowl. Made in London in 1818 by John and Henry Lias. There is a full set of hallmarks and interestingly an extra mark of a tiny pentagon. This extra mark would have been struck by a journayman silversmith who was working for the Lias company. As a qualified silversmith he was working for another silversmith's company so as such did not have a makers mark of his own. The soup ladle made by this journayman is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs. A good piece of Georgian tablewear.
