    About this item

Delicate and rare filigree silver caddy spoon in the shape of a jockey’s cap. The cap is a woven basket weave effect with central disc, unengraved. The peak has a beautiful scroll and leaf filigree design. Unmarked as is usual, made in Birmingham, c.1800. Please see plate 96 in “Caddy Spoons – An Illustrated Guide” by John Norrie for a similar example.

    It measures 5cm (2") by 4.2cm (1 5/8") wide and weighs 10g / 0.3ozt.

Condition is very good.  Some minor splits to a few of the wires where the peak meets the cap as is often the case. No losses or repairs. Slight distortion to the base of the cap.
