About this item
Very sweet silver wirework cream pail fitted with a blue glass liner. It is based on a wide frame of vertical wires applied with twining vines with leaves and grapes and 3 flying birds. It is finished with a rope twist to the rim and foot and matching swing handle. Unmarked but tested as silver, c.1790-1800.
It measures 10.5cm (4 1/8") high with the handle up, 6.3cm (2 1/2") to the rim and 8cm (3 1/8") wide.
Condition is very good. There is a very small slither chip to the outside edge of the liner but this is minimally detracting. No losses or damage to the silver, there is very fractional distortion to the frame in places and slightly to the handle as is often the case with wirework pieces but it is very minor.
