About this item
An exceptionally rare navette style Scottish Provincial silver teapot. Made in Aberdeen around 1790 by James Erskine and marked "I Er" and "ABD". The teapot has bright cut engraving around the body and the spout, the lid has a pineapple finial. There is later engraving "FDBM" "1856". With the exception of light surface scratches the teapot is in excellent condition with no damage or repairs. It is a stunningly scarce survivor. Very few Aberdeen silver teapots from this era have survived or were ever made.
