About this item
Lovely and unusual set of 4 Victorian Scottish silver table salts. Melon fluted shape with 9 bulbs to each salt with corresponding, slightly flared, fluted rim. The bodies are cast in an organic, naturalistic style to represent the texture of the bark of a tree and each is set on 3 feet formed beautifully as detailed flower buds or poppy heads with stem and leaf terminals rising up the sides of the salts. Bright gilt wash inside.
Each is hallmarked for Edinburgh 1885/1886 and makers mark for Hamilton & Inches.
They measure 5.7cm (2 1/4") wide and 3.2cm (1 1/4") high and weigh 212g/6.8ozt in total.
Condition is excellent with no damage or repairs and minimal surface wear. They have clearly been minimally used if at all.
