About this item
Mid 19th century silver "Sherry" decanter label of rounded oblong shape with double ringed border and bright cut engraved lettering. It is fitted with a belcher chain.
Hallmarked for London, maker William Knight. Date letter is rubbed but the Victoria head and other similar examples from this maker date it likely to c.1845.
It measures 4.2cm (1 5/8") and 2cm (13/16") deep. It measures approx. 11cm (4 3/8") from the top of the chain to the bottom of the label. It weighs 7g/0.2ozt.
Condition is very good with no damage or repair, light surface wear, just a bit of rubbing to the marks on the reverse.
