    About this item

A very American pretty art nouveau micro-beaded evening purse with large pink roses and foliage set against a silver blue background, replicated on either side. Lined inside with green silk and with silver gilt frame with art nouveau detailing and silver chain.

Hallmarked for Gorham, Sterling and with date mark for 1903.

    It measures approx. 8.5cm (3 3/8") wide and 9cm (3 1/2") high. Held by the chain it hang 21cm (8 1/4").

Condition is very good; the beadwork is in very good order, just missing 2 or 3  I think where it joins the frame, which is not noticeable as can be seen in the close up photo. The silk is pretty good, the fibres starting to separate a bit in the corners from opening and closing over the years. The silver has no damage or repairs, light surface wear, the gilding in the main is good, rubbed a bit on the clasp as you might expect. Marks are clear and the purse closes well.
