    About this item

Here we have a stunning large antique William IV silver rattle with a working whistle, coral teether complete with the 6 bells made by the sought after silversmiths Charles Rawlings & William Summers in London 1836. This partnership had prestigious premises at 10 Great Marlborough Street, Regent Street (London) when this piece was made. A superb and highly unusual design depicting various fruits including pineapples & melons. Fully hallmarked with Williams head, lion, date letter A, and leopards head for London assay office. Original owners initials of J.B.C.T are inscribed at the whistle end. All bells are intact they appear original and all jingle. The whistle has a good tone and retains its original suspension ring. A similar but less ornate example can be found here. This is about as perfect an example of a late Georgian silver babies rattle as you can hope to find, a superb piece by a prestigious and highly sought maker with all the bells and whistles!
