    About this item

This is an English silver pocket watch which has clear hallmarks for Chester 1892

This watch has an English silver case and an English pocket watch movement.

This is a key wound watch and to set the hands you need to open the bezel and place the key over the central post. To see the movement you need to lever the movement out of the case. This is all quite tricky but good fun none the less and the watch will come with full instructions but is not suited for someone who has never handled any type of pocket watch before.

Movement – the gilt full plate going barrel movement has a lever escapement with a compensated balance. The movement is signed “Edward Hird, Ulverston, 1155” and is in 90% mint condition – some light marks. The movement has its original gilt dust cap.

Case – the movement comes in an English silver open face case, which has a hinged back and bezel. The watch is wound from the back and set from the front and the movement is accessed from the front also. The case has coin edged sides, engine turning and has a vacant crest on the front. The is in 95% mint condition – exceptional condition, a very crisp sharp case

Dial – the off white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is in 95% mint condition – some tiny marks on the very edge

The watch has a bevelled mineral glass

The watch is key wound / key set and comes with a key

The watch measures 48mm wide x 18mm deep
