A rare Bentley Icarus mascot by Frederick Gordon Crosby, British, 1920s, signed to one side , heavy silvered( nickel plated) with signs of wear at the base and bronze showing through . Superb detailing, wing span 7ins/ 17.5 cm, mounted on a display base and b heavy. Commissioned by W.O.Bentley, this important Jack Barclay boardroom desk piece depicted a winged Icarus mascot was sculpted by F. Gordon Crosby and although intended for the car radiator most seem to have spent their lives as desk pieces or in the case of this one a bookend. This Icarus is female with boobs ??? ! The Icarus as bronze is considerably heavy and will either come Special Delivery or via a good courier This piece was a result of a special commission from Bentley to find an alternative option to the winged B mascot.
