About this item
These are unusual Victorian Table Tennis bats. Made from wood, they are an interesting and collectable sporting item which has lots of lovely patina and retains the original leather butt, the makers name WINOVA registered is stamped on both bats. C1890
It was in England, in the late 19th century, that table tennis made its appearance. Taking inspiration from lawn tennis, the first players belonged to middle-class Victorian society. The first game would have been played using a champagne cork as a ball, cigar boxes as bats and books for the net.
These bats are in great condition, they would make a very decorative piece or a great addition to any collection.
