    About this item

A very fine example of an Ideale TB 90 Daniel Rebour Special Competition leather bike seat, dating to the 1970s/80s. The seat is impressed "Rodée Main Selon Rebour". This translates roughly as "Hand oiled according to Rebour" and means that the saddle was treated with a leather conditioning and softening process patented by Daniel Rebour. Rebour was technical advisor and illustrator for the French trade magazine "Le Cycle" and between the 1940s and 1980s he produced thousands of meticulous drawings illustrating technical advances in the world of cycling. He was also a keen cyclist and came up with his treatment to make saddles more comfortable as a result.

This saddle is covered with richly patinated brown leather with copper rivets round the edges, each stamped with the Ideale name. It has a chromed steel framework and rails, and a chromed steel nose maked with the Ideale name and model number. It also bears the Selection Tricolore Course stamp. These saddles are much sought after, particularly in such good condition.

Condition : Very good with minor wear commensurate with its age.
