About this item
A heavy, 19th century steel meat cleaver. This is simple in form but it has an interesting aluminium and copper handle. The way that it is riveted almost makes it resemble a domino. It is a very functional piece, being heavy enough to chop through bones, and it has seen plenty of use. It dates from.1860. Both the steel blade and the handle have some pitting from use, but other than that it is in very good condition and it is still usable.
