About this item
A nineteenth century, cast steel, bell shaped herb or vegetable chopper. This is stamped, in the steel blade, “ACIER FONDU”. There is also a monogram of the letters “AR”. Acier fondu is French and translates as “cast steel” and the monogram would be the mark of the foundry. The handle is turned from a hardwood and has an attractive grain. This is attached by brass fittings.
French. Date c.1880.
There is very slight pitting to the blade but otherwise the piece is in excellent condition.
