About this item
A large, and heavy,19th century, steel meat cleaver. This is made from cast steel and has a turned wooden handle with brass and steel fittings. The piece is very simple in form with a lined design to the handle. It dates from c.1880.
There is pitting to the steel, commensurate with age and use, and there are two nicks to the edge of the blade.
Dimensions: Length 44.5cm. Width 10.5cm. Diameter of handle 4.2cm.
