    About this item

A superb example of an early oak joyned stool dating from the first quarter of the 17thc....around the reign of Charles1 or Oliver Cromwell....it is one of the heaviest well built stools I have purchased....it has the original thick top, which is pegged to the top of the legs and underneath the seat is an attractive bicuspid-shaped rail.......the legs are turned in slightly inverted baluster form united by plain thick stretchers ......it has a rich dark natural colour that "aged" oak goes with a fine patination ........in very good condition throughout.

    C1620-30.
