The TH 501 was designed by Oskar Immerschied in the mid-1960s and produced by the PGH Metalldrücker Halle (from 1972 VEB Metalldrücker Halle).
The lamp impresses with its functional design. The design highlight is the sheet metal reflector, which runs on a ball bearing and can thus be rotated through 360°. Another groundbreaking detail of this lamp are the clamping joints with which the curved steel rod is attached to the foot and shade. This constructive solution was used for many other table lamps of the VEB Metalldrücker Halle such as the TL2010, TL2020 or the TL Cornette.
