About this item
A very fine 19th Century richly patinated rosewood Bureau Du Dame. This gorgeous writing table is of exceptional quality, stunningly hand carved, line inlaid, ormolu mounted and with marquetry panels depicting intricate motifs of shells, flower heads, ruffles, acanthus leaves, scrolls and trailing foliate detail throughout. The moulded top is surmounted 3/4 pierced gallery rail raised over a serpentine fall front section fitted with decorative ormolu key and escutcheon and is adorned to the central reserve with an exquisite marquetry inlaid panel depicting a centred shell flanked with flowerheads, trailing foliate, ruffles, c and s scrolls. The fall front section opens outwards to reveal a gorgeous red embossed tooled leather writing skiver surface and fitted interior with an arrangement of compartments comprising of small drawers and storage sections, all fitted with decorative pulls. Raised over serpentine apron with a further beautiful arrangement of marquetry panel detail, supported on elegant tapering cabriole leg with finely cast ormolu mounts on knee with foliate, ruffles and scroll detail, terminating on sabot cast foot.
