A charming french painting on velvet circa 1890 of a classical urn full of flowers.
The deep frame is decorated and the flowers are in vibrant blues and muted colours
Theorems were often painted on velvet, which was much denser than today's velvet cloth, thick water colours were used for softness in appearance.
