About this item
A decorative late victorian/early 1900s mounted taxidermy Sawfish rostrum or bill. The sawfish, also known as Carpenter Sharks, are a family of Rays charaterised by a long, narrow, flattened rostrum or nose extension, lines with sharp teeth and arranged in a way that resembles a saw. Sadly an endangered and protected species these days this antique rostrum is a rare taxidermy peice now. Hugely decorative and unusual piece for the home or collector.
Condition commensurate with age. In good overall condition a few broken teeth perhaps lost by the sawfish in its lifetime.
