VERY EARLY CHILDS TIN RATTLE and WHISTLE
c 1860
This fabulous very old tin rattle and whistle is superb. During the mid 1800's these were a common rattle and whistle toy. 5 1/4" long
The rattle is embellished with whimsical victorian geometric designs around the barrel drum. The rattle still rings well with the original seeds or pellets inside as well as the whistle still has its high pitched shill sound. A remarkable piece of American history !
This example has survived in very good condition with no bending.
