About this item
A charming set of children's wooden building blocks, dating to approximately the 1930s. These were cheaply made but are still very attractive. Two sides of each block bear a slightly raised, painted image, while two sides are decorated with a blue printed image, and the remaining two sides with a red printed image. The images include animals, birds, household items and buildings, but perhaps the most interesting are the methods of transport illustrated. These include a steam train, automobiles, a bi-plane, a racing car and even a Zeppelin. The designs of these are all redolent with 1930s charm. There are 24 bricks in all.
The blocks have some play-wear and some of the printed images are quite faded. Despite this this is a decorative set.
