About this item
This is a fine example of an early 19thc large teetotum made of bone, probably made by Napoleonic prisoners of war ....it is of an octagonal shape (eight sided) and numbered 1 to 8 and would have been used by the prisoners playing gambling games....it is in very good condition and still retains the original colours to the numbers.....some minor surface cracks from a long time ago can be seen in the photos, but probably happened when it was made and do not detract or diminish in any way.....it still spins perfectly as you can see from the last picture.
English / French C1815.
