    About this item

This wax seal impression features three geese (or perhaps ducks) feeding in a meadow. The width of the impression is 15 mm (19/32nds of an inch) which could made by either be seal or an engraved signet ring. It is contained in a beautifully turned lignum vitae box that measures 29 mm (1 9/64ths of an inch) in diameter, and is 10 mm (3/8ths of an inch) high. Inside the lid is an attached printed silk label for Fisher, Braithwaite & Jones Jewellers, Cockspur St London. This partnership started in around 1823, and was dissolved on the 29th of September 1829, with Braithwaite and Jones continuing the business. Both the box and seal are in very good condition. It would date from 1823-9.
