About this item
A rare 17thc bronze small "Apothecary" skillet ....I have only owned one skillet of this size before, so I was very pleased to have bought this fine example... it has nicely shaped legs which terminate in flattened out rounded feet.... the six sided short bronze handle, would have originally been without the georgian wooden handle, but someone in the 18thc has skillfully turned a fruitwood handle, which has been fitted to the skillet and it works very well and is a nice compliment to the piece.... I particularly like the way the bowl has been worked.... you can still see the filing marks, left by the metal smith....in very good condition with a fine natural patina.
Continental - Probably German. C1670-90.
