    About this item

An early 19th century, sycamore butter board. In the butter making process  butter was placed onto boards of this type and patted into blocks. Often, as they were only simple, flat pieces of wood they were discarded when the dairies closed and many of them probably ended up on fires. This is a lovely example, with a very pale patina, and a slight warp, both of which  have developed over the years. It dates from c.1830 and is in very good condition with just a couple of woodworm holes which have now been treated.

    Dimensions: Length 27.6cm. Width 10.5cm. Depth 1cm.

Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £15. Most of Western Europe add £8
