Tiny Corozo Sculptor Masterpiece: 18th Century Needle Case
Item details
Remarkable object, very small: a needle case from the 18th century, opening with thread, in beautiful condition.
Shaped as a quiver, and carved in openwork, each character thus standing out from the tree-lined background.
The upper part shows a rotating decoration of 3 figures: a couple going to a seated figure holding a register: probably a marriage; above, a well-composed bouquet in a basket.
The lower part shows a toasting couple, table set. This underside ends with an openwork cul de lamp.
Primitive, 18th century. Extreme precision in the sculpture, very skillful despite its size:
Dimensions: 8.5cm x 1.4cm.
Good condition, the thread has been reinforced, it closes very well.
