Very decorative, large Maiolica Vase, Italy 19th Century
Extremely charming, cheerful and decorative, this is a lovely piece. With bold colours and a lovely naive drawing style, it features portraits (probably of saints) to front and back, surrounded by wonderful "Grotteschi". This is a 19th century or earlier vase made in the 16th to 17th century taste.
In excellent overall condition, with some minor glaze imperfections and craqueleur. The glaze has worn away around the very top of the rim which seems to be standard, we can't find any examples where this isn't the case.
