Glass Dome and Wooden Watch Stand. c1880

This is a wooden watch stand with a hinged, domed glass cover. The round base has sloping wooden sides. The base is decorated with brass stud work Above the base is a circular wooden bezel, which is held in place with a hinge. This bezel supports the domed glass. This bezel is also decorated with more brass stud work. This hinges open to reveal a wooden stand and plinth. The plinth has turned detailing, with more brass stud work and supports the round watch holder. This is lined with velvet. The watch sits within the circular recess and the stem is supported in a gap within the frame. The stand will take a watch 45 – 47mm in diameter. The stand measures 110mm wide x 125cm high. The stand is in 90% mint condition – overall excellent condition throughout with some dirt on the glass and fading on the wood on the base.
