    About this item

An exceptional set of 14 mouth handblown crafted clear glass wine glasses by master craftsman, Anthony Stern (1944-2022). Each exquisite glass is a work of art, carefully mouth blown and hand wrought with molten glass to create a set of indivually matched flutes. Each a massive 20cm in height they hold approx 150ml.  Clear crystal bowls above hand wrought seashell stems and hand crafted bases with folded over rims to the edge, each glass has the full etched ‘Anthony Stern’ signature to the base.

Anthony Stern was originally a British experimental filmmaker. He first started making films while at Cambridge University, then worked as assistant to the avant-garde documentary film maker Peter Whitehead. Pursuing his fascination with colour and materials through which light passes, Stern completed an MA at the Royal College of Art in Glass and became a glass maker. His work is included in the collections of Queen Elizabeth II, Sir Elton John, the Saudi Royal Family (Red Sea Palace), the Victoria & Albert Museum, Sir Derek Jacobi, and the Broadfield House Glass Museum, as well as crafting lighting collections for both Porta Roman and Todhunter Earle and commissioned glassware for The Wolsey restaurant, Piccadilly. Anthony's work as a glass artist was also the subject of the film 'Lit From Within: The Art of Anthony Stern'.
