    About this item

Stirrup glass with slice cut flutes faceted shoulder knop and finial English c1830.

    Bowl dia:  7cm.

    Condition: Very good.

Note: A stirrup glass is a glass without a foot or handle and must rest inverted on the bowl when not in use.

Strictly speaking, the term refers to the final drink taken by a mounted rider or huntsman when about to depart, but now generally applies to a type of drinking vessel which was used on such occasions. A stirrup glass can often be refered to as a hunting-glass or a coaching glass.
