About this item
A superb Art Deco English silver plated champagne wine bucket or cooler on matching stand, by Elkington for the Canadian Pacific Railway, Circa 1920s. This splendid piece of antique barware has a wonderful history of use in the First Class Dining Car (Carriage), back in an era when travelling by train was a sophisticated and desirable form of travel. The wine bucket would have been used daily and as a result shows signs of wear and patina. Still in excellent condition for full service use. Incorporated in 1881, Canadian Pacific Railway was formed to physically unite Canada and Canadians from coast to coast and the building of the railway is considered to be one of Canada's greatest feats of engineering.
