About this item
Lovely early 20th century Tibetan carved wood Citipati skull, c1910. Citipati is a Hindu deity and masks/skull carvings are used in skeleton dances and other sacred rituals to recognise the eternal cycle of life and death. This example is well carved and heavy at 0.5kg. The painting is beautiful, and the colours remain bright and vibrant. It has a wax seal on the base which is probably an early export mark. Overall condition is good in line with age and use with very minor rubbing/wear to the paint etc. Please refer to the detailed photographs and feel free to contact me if you would like to view the item or have any questions.
