FS0252 A LARGE RECLAIMED MAHOGANY EDWARDIAN FIRE SURROUND

An elegant and classic, reclaimed, Edwardian mahogany fire surround. The surround is of a large size, ideal for a reception room and is of a quality design. The fire surround has a simple and classic appearance with stepped detail around the mantel edges and decorative cut outs at each end. There is a border, in relief, around the fire opening. The mahogany appears to have been French polished and has a rich colour, highlighting the lovely characteristics of the wood. The surround is in good reclaimed condition with some signs of use and age, as expected of antique items. The fire surround has some small knocks and chips and there are some marks and scuffs in the French polish. The feet have some scuffs and the sides of the legs have some residue paint. Some of the metal fixing lugs are slightly bent and have screws and some wood attached. You may wish to replace the lugs and the screws and remaining wood attached will need to be removed. Please see pictures for condition details. The fire surround has a lovely elegant appearance that would suit many interiors and it would be ideal paired with a cast iron insert or fire basket. The insert would finish a fireplace nicely.
