FS0266 A RECLAIMED ANTIQUE CARVED OAK FIRE SURROUND C.1900

A pretty, reclaimed, carved oak fire surround, dating to 1900. The decorative surround has a lovely carved crossbar, under the mantel, with a shield stating the date made, 1900, and scrolling detail with flowers and leaves inside. The legs are slim and have a nice shape. The surround legs are not attached and are designed to fit together with the rest of the surround when fitted on the wall. We will supply 4 metal fixing tabs so you can attach the legs and cross bar to the wall (see picture 9). The surround was originally painted but has been sanded to reveal the lovely colour of the oak and its attractive wood grain. 

The surround is a reclaimed antique and has some signs of wear and age, as expected. The legs have some metal brackets on the back to hold the leg pieces together but there are some slim gaps where the pieces meet. There are some small holes, knocks and chips to the oak. The mantel and legs have some staining. The oak has some patches of residue paint. Please see pictures for condition details. The surround has a very elegant period look and would make a nice feature for a fireplace.
