About this item
A very beautiful old Horse Tricycle made for a small child in late 19th century France. Known as a 'Velocipede'. These horse trikes were made by the Auguste Reidmeister company and were sold throughout France through department stores like the 'Samaritaine' in Paris. Carved in wood with metal head, wheels and brackets, this model was pedalled like an ordinary trike though others were propelled by a chain driven mechanism. In totally un-restored condition, this charming example has its original leather saddle and other worn accoutrements.
Measures 28 inches long x 26 high x 17 wide. In working condition. Circa 1880-1900
