About this item
A reclaimed Victorian front door for glazing with frame. The door has a nice appearance, typical of the era, with three raised and fielded panels at the base. The top half of the door has two rectangular vertical panels and a horizontal panel with chamfered top, for glazing. We can glaze the door for an extra charge, please contact us to discuss your requirements and for a quote. The door has been stripped of old paint, patch repaired and one coat of primer/undercoat, ready for purchaser to paint the door to suit. There is a space for a letter plate. Door hardware is to be supplied by purchaser. The door has been paired with a new pine frame with oak sill. Please note the door has not been attached to the frame and therefore the bottom of the door does not sit completely within the frame in the photographs due to the angle in which the door was placed for photographing. Included in the price we will hang the door into the frame once we know which side to put the hinges. There is £50 discount if this is not required.
The door frame has a black marker line illustrating where we can chamfer the edges, if purchaser would like. Please contact us to discuss this if you would like chamfered detailing on the frame. The door is in solid antique condition with some signs of age and wear, as expected. There are some small marks, holes and knocks and there are some thin surface splits. Some residue old paint can be seen, leaving some slight unevenness in areas. The door does need further filling and preparation prior to application of your chosen undercoat to go with your topcoat.
The door has a slight twist, which has been accommodated for by adjusting the frame so that the door sits correctly in the frame. Please see pictures for condition details. The door has a lovely period appearance and will make a very nice addition to the home once glazed and painted.
