About this item
Rare and unusual late 19th century Papua New Guinea fighting club,c1890. With a simple wooden shaft the club has an elaborately carved point which terminates in the filed toenail/claw of a Cassowary bird. The shaft and terminal are bound together in traditional natural tribal bindings. Most likely from the Angu or Kukukuku tribe who were the only Highland tribe to use clubs with wooden shafts. Overall condition is very good with no obvious defects. Please refer to the detailed photographs and feel free to contact me if you would like to view the item or have any questions.
