About this item
A wonderful statue of Tibetan Bodhisattva Manjushree. Legend has it that he cuts water with the sword to divide the water resource to irrigate dry valleys. In Tibetan Buddhism, Mañjusri also manifests in a wrathful tantric form that is called "Yamantaka", meaning Terminator of Death. Seated in vajrasana on a lotiform base, holding a sword in his right hand, his left hand in jnana mudra, gesture of teaching. Adorned with jewels, he is dressed in a dhoti. The serene, smiling face, his half-closed eyes are surmounted by arched eyebrows. His hair is dressed in buns surrounded by a crown adorned with beads.
