An exceptionally rare pair of stunning 19th Century giltwood mirrors. The original shaped, double bevelled, mercury mirror glass plate is set within a very fine, intricately hand carved moulded giltwood frame with ribbon and flowerhead border. The curved architectural pediment is raised over frieze with decorative motifs comprising of centred stylised acanthus flanked with scrolls and trailing foliate above a beautiful panel depicting a Neoclassical scene of cherubs joyfully frolicking, flanked with trailing foliate in high relief. The shaped base with single long shelf flanked with decorative panels depicting gorgeous compositions of flowers, a further arrangement of shelving and scrolling acanthus leaves carved in high relief.
