This is a rare and original large 17th Century Dutch Old Master Portrait Oil Painting portraying an affluent rosy-complexioned seated Lady who is wearing a period black & white lace dress with a huge bejewelled brooch embellished with precious stones and freshwater Pearls.
Attributed to 'Jacob Frans van der Merck' (c. 1610-1664 - Dutch)
Born in ‘S-Gravendeel around 1610, Jacob Frans van der Merck worked in Delft, The Hague, and Leiden, producing portraits, genre scenes, and still life paintings, all of which were painted in the distinctive Old Master Flemish manner of the period.
The piece is absolutely exceptional and it screams 'Old Master' quality!
To the reverse of the painting, there is an original period attached label that describes the sitter as 'A Lady Of Dordrecht', attributed to 'J. F. Van Der Merck'
Further attached is a very old restorers label which reads: "Herm. Ritschl Maler - k.u.k. Restaurier, Heugasse 54, Wien, 4/2", "Restaurier Buch Nr. 4491''
This is a rare early 17th Century Old Master Painting that is worthy of any fine art collection.
The artist is listed at auction with sales of £120.000 so it is a fantastic guaranteed investment piece.
