About this item
This is a very fine exhibition quality original 1930s Impressionist oil on canvas painting depicting a group of busy farm workers who are collecting hay on the bank of a picturesque canal.
Executed by listed Belgian artist 'Albert Caullet' (1875-1950) who was known for his river, canal and wonderful hazy landscape settings.
The above work is in exhibition condition and quality.
The wonderful image depicts a working horse & a cart which are being loaded with hay by a group of farm workers.
On the river is a small sailing boat that is passing by some old cottages whilst, in the distance is another town and a large woodland.
The work is exceptionally detailed and it is signed by the artist in the lower-left corner.
Mounted within the original gilt swept and pierced gesso moulded frame with an attached gallery label verso.
