This is an antique ship's wash stand. An English, mahogany drop flap nightstand, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850.
Fascinating example of maritime furniture
Displays a desirable aged patina with original marks commensurate with age and use
Select stocks shows fine russet hues and grain interest throughout
Associated ceramic wash bowl and commemorative cup in good order
Near square in proportion, extending flaps held stay with flying arm supports
Lift-up top concertinas at the middle, folding into a low back rest
Bowl and cup recess set neatly into the space beneath
Dressed with a brass lock escutcheon - untested, key absent
Arranged as a small cupboard with two drawers, each dressed with circular brass pulls
The taller, narrow candle box sits above a shallower, full-width towel drawer
Standing upon a quartet of gently tapered baluster legs with cylinder feet
