Geji skirt cushions

These cushions are made from an early C20 Geji minority skirt. The skirt was thickly pleated indigo dyed hemp, with a border pattern in paste resist decorated with hand embroidered ribbons. The detailed embroidery on the ribbon is breath taking! The embroidery colours are red, purple and olive green and I've backed the cushions in a complementary olive green Tussah silk. Traces of the original pleating can be seen in the indigo band across the middle of the cushions which is an interesting feature. There are zip fasteners and feather pads.
