About this item
These wonderful big fat cushions are made from a vintage hand loomed wedding blanket by the Zhuang minority in SW China. It's a handloomed cotton textile with the design in an indigo supplementary weft. The looms are very narrow, about 13" wide, so 2 panels are sewn together to make a cushion this size. Its a testament to the skill of the weaver that the patterns can be joined so accurately. I've backed the cushions with a vintage Japanese quilt back in indigo and beige cotton, also from a narrow loom and i ve left the original slightly off centre seams on these. With vintage textiles on both sides these cushions are wonderfully characterful and original.
There are zip fasteners and feather pads.
