M1497 SET OF RECLAIMED ANTIQUE BLUE & WHITE MINTON FIRE TILES

A set of beautiful, reclaimed, antique fire tiles from Minton. The set comprises of 12 tiles, 8 large square tiles and 4 half tiles that sit at the top and bottom of the larger tiles. The tiles have a stunning and clear design in blue and white, featuring pomegranates with leaves and a decorative border, that runs from the top tile to the bottom. The tiles are designed to sit on either side of a cast iron tiled fire, 6 on each side, but could be used for other interior design projects. Most of the tiles have "Minton China Works Stoke-on Trent" on the back and they are likely to date to the early 1900s. The tiles are useable but have sustained some damage, that has been repaired, and have some signs of age, as expected of reclaimed antiques. Some of the tiles have had some large breaks and cracks that have been repaired. The tiles are now fairly sturdy and can be used with care. The cracks are visible. There is some crazing to the tile enamel and some chips and knocks. There are a some smoke residue marks that should improve with further cleaning. The tile backs have some staining. Please see pictures for condition details. The tiles have a stunning appearance and the paint is clear and bright. The tiles are a fantastic example of Minton design and would be perfect for adding character to a cast iron tiled fire or to add character and charm to a home.
